Schwarzwälder Textil-Werke Heinrich Kautzmann GmbH (STW) is a family business, employing over 90 members of staff. We develop and produce high-quality fibres for your industry and applications.

As leading specialists in fibre fillers, short cut fibres, fibrids & pulp, as well as customised solutions, we also process all the fibre materials you need; from natural fibres to synthetic fibres through to high-tech fibres. Thanks to decades of experience, continuous research and strong customer-orientation, we are able to react flexibly to new requirements with our bespoke fibre solutions. And since we are active in over 70 countries, you will always find a competent fibre expert in your vicinity.

In 1919, Heinrich Kautzmann founded the Schwarzwälder Textil-Werke in Bergzell. Ever since, the company has been family-owned; now in the 4th generation. Initially, high-quality cotton as well as bleached, dyed and shredded fibres were produced. Thanks to outstanding fibre quality, the company grew rapidly and opened three further sites in Vortal, Schenkenzell (todays headquarter) and Haslach, where the dye works and shredding operation were located.

In Haslach, in 1950, the foundations for the current product portfolio of fibre solutions were laid, with cotton fibre fillers and chopped threads for the plastics industry, something which subsequently expanded continuously. After a major fire in 1974, the shredding operation was closed at the Vortal plant and the production of short fibres moved from Haslach to Schenkenzell. All textile production plants were then combined at this same location; with the exception of the production of plastic components.

Since the founding of the company in 1919, and not least, because our headquarters are located in a health resort, environmental protection, as well as sustainable thinking and action have been important, founding principles of our company tradition; from raw materials to machinery, from development, production and processing to final fibre products and dispatch.

Through the use of residual materials such as textile waste materials, we produce our high-quality fibre products in a particularly environmentally friendly manner. In addition, our fibres have been used to replace environmentally harmful substances such as asbestos in different applications.
