As leading specialists in fibre fillers, short cut fibres, fibrids & pulp, as well as customised solutions, we also process all the fibre materials you need; from natural fibres to synthetic fibres through to high-tech fibres. Thanks to decades of experience, continuous research and strong customer-orientation, we are able to react flexibly to new requirements with our bespoke fibre solutions. And since we are active in over 70 countries, you will always find a competent fibre expert in your vicinity.

HISTORY

HIGH-TECH FIBRES FOR ALMOST 100 YEARS

In 1919, Heinrich Kautzmann founded the Schwarzwälder Textil-Werke in Bergzell. Ever since, the company has been family-owned; now in the 4th generation. Initially, high-quality cotton as well as bleached, dyed and shredded fibres were produced. Thanks to outstanding fibre quality, the company grew rapidly and opened three further sites in Vortal, Schenkenzell (todays headquarter) and Haslach, where the dye works and shredding operation were located.

In Haslach, in 1950, the foundations for the current product portfolio of fibre solutions were laid, with cotton fibre fillers and chopped threads for the plastics industry, something which subsequently expanded continuously. After a major fire in 1974, the shredding operation was closed at the Vortal plant and the production of short fibres moved from Haslach to Schenkenzell. All textile production plants were then combined at this same location; with the exception of the production of plastic components.

ENVIRONMENT

PRACTICED ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION OUT OF TRADITION

At STW, active environmental protection is our daily business. Since the founding of the company in 1919, and not least, because our headquarters are located in a health resort, environmental protection, as well as sustainable thinking and action have been important, founding principles of our company tradition; from raw materials to machinery, from development, production and processing to final fibre products and dispatch.

We recognise the importance of the following factors, in our active environmental protection measures:

  • Company owned hydroelectric power plants
  • Reuse of water
  • Conservation of resources through the use of textile waste materials
  • No contamination of water and air thanks to modern production processes and filtration systems
  • Minimised waste
  • Reduced power consumption
  • Continuous personnel training
  • Replacement of environmentally harmful products (such as asbestos) with environmentally friendly products
  • Consistent monitoring of new environmental protection targets

Recycling

THE SECOND LIFE OF VALUABLE MATERIALS

Through the use of residual materials such as textile waste materials, we produce our high-quality fibre products in a particularly environmentally friendly manner. In addition, our fibres have been used to replace environmentally harmful substances such as asbestos in different applications.

Our sustainable thinking is also appreciated by our customers. Thanks to their exceptional quality, STW fibres are preferred for the development of new environmentally friendly products!

New sales representative for the friction lining and gaskets industries in India

In view of the strong growth rates in the automotive sector in Asia and the increasing demand for brake pads and sealings and hence for appropriate fibre products, we are pleased to announce that Mr Padmakumar Menon will from now on represent our interests in India. He has more than 30 years of experience in these sectors and will be your local contact for any questions and enquiries in India. We are looking forward to welcoming Padmakumar Menon in the STW team.

New products launched at FILTECH in Cologne

FILTECH will be presented by its organisers as the international filtration event. Indeed, there is no other trade fair in the world that concentrates so much on filtration and separation. Sophisticated lectures from industry and research attract a qualified international audience in addition to the trade fair.

For the first time we were represented at FILTECH with our own booth to present our new fibre developments, which are specially designed for gas and wet filtration. In addition to our already very popular wide range of fibre solutions, we now also offer special fibre pulp based on polyacrylonitrile, aramid and viscose with Schopper-Riegler values up to °SR 75 and fibre surfaces up to 45 m2/g.

Many thanks for the great interest in our new developments, which we are of course happy to sample for test trials.

JEC Paris, 6 - 8 March 2018

In recent years, JEC in Paris has established itself extremely successfully as the world's most important trade fair for the composites sector. Once again, the fair was able to record an increase in the number of exhibitors and international visitors. STW took part in the JEC for the first time as part of a joint Baden-Württemberg International (bw-i) booth.

For the formulations of composite materials we offer a whole range of classic fibre fillers, e.g. glass fibre fillers with different properties or polyethylene fibrids to influence the reological properties. For the growing biocomposites sector we have a very interesting range of natural fibres from cotton to ground coconut fibres.

We are looking forward to your inquiries and thank everyone who visited our booth!

Trade fairs 2018

STW will be represented at several industry trade fairs in 2018.

JEC World, 06. – 08.03.2018, Paris/France

This trade fair is specialised in the composites industry and has a very strong international focus. STW is taking part in a joint booth organised by bw-i (Baden-Württemberg International) for the first time. We will focus on fibres for compounds, biocompounds and adhesives.

FILTECH, 13. – 15.03.2018, Cologne/Germany

FILTECH is a trade fair for filtration and separation. STW will have its own stand at the fair and will be presenting short cut fibres and technical fibrids & pulp. Our goal is to be able to develop customised fibre solutions in addition to our standard product range.

EuroBrake, 22. – 24.05.2018, The Hague/Netherlands

EuroBrake is an annual lecture event with an associated trade fair for specialists from the friction lining industry. This event is also very international in character. STW is presenting a wide range of fibre fillers and technical fibrids & pulp. Our top products in this area are aramid and polyacrylonitrile pulp.

Composites Europe, 06. – 08.11.2018, Stuttgart/Germany

Composites Europe also represents the entire composite sector. Germany is the largest producer of glass fibre reinforced plastics in Europe. For this reason, this fair was able to establish itself alongside the JEC. STW will also be presenting fibres and specialties for compounds, biocompounds and adhesives.
